Introduction
Thank you for using "TurfWalk" (the "App"). The App is a personal app developed to provide a walking experience in which you create "turf" on a map from the routes you walk and raise your companion cat.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how that information is used. Please read this Policy carefully before using the App.
1. Information We Collect
1-1. Information stored on your device within the App
The App stores the following information only on your device. This information is not sent to any external server.
Location and walking routes: GPS coordinates obtained while walking and the turf polygons calculated from those routes (on-device only)
Turf information: each turf's area, creation date and time, erosion state, number of visits, walking distance, and step count
Companion (cat) information: the currently selected companion ID, cumulative walking distance per companion, evolution stage, and the list of unlocked companions
Item inventory: stock of functional items such as ward talismans, repellent spray, and revival seeds
Play progress: total walking distance, total turf area, coin balance, login bonus information, and quest completion status
App settings: notification permission state, auto-walk-end setting, currently selected tab, and so on
All of this data is stored in your device's UserDefaults (local storage).
1-2. Information arising from communication with external services
The App communicates with the following external services to provide its features. None of them transmit information that can personally identify you.
Apple Maps (Apple Inc.): sends tile requests for the area around your current location in order to display the map
WeatherKit (Apple Inc.): sends your current coordinates to obtain weather information, used to adjust companion abilities and turf erosion speed based on the weather
App Store / StoreKit 2 (Apple Inc.): obtains purchase information managed by Apple in order to purchase or restore the Pro plan (an auto-renewing subscription)
Game Center (Apple Inc.): uses your Game Center player identifier to submit your score to the total-turf-area ranking
Apple Watch (WatchConnectivity): syncs walk data and item information only between your iPhone and Apple Watch. This is not sent to Apple servers or to the developer
PostHog (product analytics): to improve the App, it sends anonymous usage events (e.g. app launch, start/end of a walk, use of screens and features, results of permission prompts, passing through purchase flows) to PostHog's servers (United States). What is sent is only a randomly assigned anonymous ID together with the above events and general device information (OS version, device model, app version, country/region, etc.). It does not send any information that can personally identify you, such as your name, email address, precise location, or walking routes. It is never used for advertising purposes

3. Sharing and Disclosure to Third Parties
The App does not share your information with third parties except in the following cases.
Legal requirements: when disclosure is required by law or legal process
Game Center ranking: the nickname you set on Game Center and your total turf area (numeric value only) are shown to other players on the ranking screen
App data stored on your device (location, walking routes, turf, progress, etc.) cannot be accessed by any third party, including the developer.
4. Data Storage and Deletion
All data within the App is stored only on your device
Uninstalling the App deletes all data on your device
You can delete stored data at any time from "Reset Data" in the settings screen
You can delete individual turf from the turf records screen
The developer has no means of accessing your data
5. Advertising and Tracking
The App does not display any advertising. It does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) or carry out any behavioral tracking for advertising purposes.
To improve the App, it collects anonymous usage events using the product analytics service PostHog (see "1-2" for details). This is intended solely for statistical analysis that does not identify individuals, and is not used for cross-service advertising tracking. The ID collected is an anonymous ID assigned by the App, not the advertising identifier (IDFA).
6. OS Permissions
The App uses the following OS permissions to provide its features. Granting them is optional, and you can use the App—except for certain features—without granting them.
Location: recording your route while walking, creating turf, and erosion determination (core feature)
You may choose "Allow While Using" or "Allow Always"
If you choose "Allow Always," walks can be recorded even in the background
Motion & Fitness: obtaining step counts
Notifications: streak reminders and notifications for monster appearances / turf disappearance
Background Modes: recording location and running erosion tasks in the background
Because location is the core feature for recording walks, we recommend granting it. If you do not grant it, you will not be able to start a walk or create turf.
7. Use by Children
The App is not directed at any specific age group, but because it involves outdoor walking, children should only use it under the supervision of a guardian. The App does not collect any personally identifiable information.
8. Safety Notice
The App is intended for use while walking. Using a smartphone while walking is very dangerous. Please stop in a safe place before checking the screen. The developer assumes no responsibility for any accidents, injuries, or trouble arising from use of the App.
9. Security
All entered data is stored only on your device
External communication is limited to that described in "1-2" of this Policy, and all of it uses HTTPS
What is sent to PostHog is only an anonymous ID and usage events; we never transmit information that can personally identify you to external parties
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be changed without prior notice. If a significant change occurs, we will notify you through an app update. The latest policy is available on this page (the support site).
